Only Me!

Barnaby Davies has written for Trucking Magazine (print), bootsnall (online), gonomad (online) and theexpeditioner (online). As well as writing articles – and tooting his dratted trombone in lay-bys – 2010 saw him touring Europe as crew for Metallica, AC/DC and U2. This year starts with the Taylor Swift tour, a brand new son and co-writing a comedy drama for TV. Yet he is happiest when as far from a television as possible. Oh, and barefoot.

Lucrative writing commissions to far-flung destinations will always be gratefully received. Please bear Antarctica in mind – it is becoming something of an obsession. Or get in touch about any sort of writing – I’ll always reply. Enjoy the website..

A little more personal:
Hi,

Now, should I write this in the first or third person? Barnaby does…or I do..? He”ll go for a fifty fifty, I think, and I’ll make it as concise as possible. Well, within reason. Barnaby likes titillating tangents and absurd alliteration.

I drive trucks for rock and roll bands. There you are, I’ve said it. All those years studying classical trombone at music colleges…coo, what a shame.  Mind you, the acoustic in the back of my trailer is splendid for practising. Ah, those mellifluous tones while parked in rest areas from Manchester to Moscow, from Inverness to Istanbul. One has to keep one’s “chops” in, you see – I still take on professional playing engagements on those rare occasions when I’m in the UK.

Shall we go with trombone-playing, truck-driving, swashbuckling travel writer? No, maybe not – I don’t want to blow my own trumpet, I mean trombone..
